Just as they stayed on the air throughout the pandemic, news organizations with an OTT channel also kept streaming. Executives from CNN, Sinclair, Fox Television Stations, Gray Television and Bitcentral will share how they did it and how they’ve continued to hone their backend technology in a panel at TVNewsCheck’s OTT News Summit.

The panel, Creating Frictionless OTT Workflows, will feature Steve Chung, chief digital officer, Fox Television Stations; Scott Ehrlich, SVP growth platforms and content, Sinclair Broadcast Group; Fred Fourcher; founder and CEO, Bitcentral; Steph McGowen, senior director, digital integrations and OTT, Gray Television; and Mike Toppo, VP of global video programming, CNN. Streaming consultant Ian Stinson will moderate the discussion on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. ET.

“News organizations continue to streamline the technology behind their OTT channels, and COVID-19’s forced shift to remote working put those processes to the test,” said Michael Depp, TVNewsCheck’s editor. “Steve, Scott, Fred, Steph and Mike all have valuable insights to share on how to keep their channels streaming under extreme duress and achieve the most frictionless operations with the current technology.”

TVNewsCheck’s virtualized edition of its second annual OTT News Summit will run from Sept. 22-25, engaging the pandemic’s impact on the streaming value chain and how news organizations can take advantage of new opportunities in content, technology and monetization.

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic roundtables on key issues. Before, during and after the conference, attendees may also network, submit suggested questions for speakers, chat about issues, browse virtual exhibits and set appointments with sponsors by downloading the TVNewsCheck Events app from the Apple or Android stores. App users who have registered for the OTT News Summit also have the option of watching the programming’s live stream on the app.

Panels will include Programming OTT News in a Pandemic; Virtualizing the Election: OTT’s Programming Opportunities; More Viewers, More Paths to Discovery; Ad Tech Pandemic Report Card; and Monetizing OTT: New Opportunities in a Changed World. Jean Ellen Cowgill, GM of Bloomberg QuickTake, will open the summit in a keynote interview.
