Christy Tanner, EVP and GM of CBS News Digital, will be the keynote interview for the final, monetization-focused day of programming at TVNewsCheck’s OTT News Summit.

Tanner, who oversees CBS News on all of its digital platforms including CBSN, its mobile apps and CBSNews.com, will explore the fast-changing dynamics of monetizing a streaming news channel in the pandemic era. In an interview with TVNewsCheck Contributing Editor Janet Stilson at 1 p.m. on Sept. 25, she’ll speak to the prospective fortunes of AVOD and SVOD model services in an ever-more crowded field, ad tech’s key role in accelerating monetization and how local and national advertisers’ perception of streaming’s value is evolving.

“Christy is one of OTT’s vanguard executives, and her particular news focus makes her insights into streaming’s monetization potential for news organizations all the more valuable” said Michael Depp, TVNewsCheck editor. “CBS’s rollout of local streaming news channels has continued apace despite the pandemic, and her experience launching new markets under these challenging conditions gives her an invaluable vantage point.”

TVNewsCheck’s virtualized edition of its second annual OTT News Summit will run from Sept. 22 to 25, engaging the pandemic’s impact on the streaming value chain and how news organizations can take advantage of new opportunities in content, technology and monetization.

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic Roundtables on key issues. Before, during and after the conference, attendees may also network, submit suggested questions for speakers, chat about issues, browse virtual exhibits and set appointments with sponsors by downloading the TVNewsCheck Events app from the Apple or Android stores.
